A Halloween planner printable is a short set of pages for the logistics of October: costumes, the party, decorations, what to buy and when, and what actually happens on the 31st. It is a project plan for a month that quietly contains more moving parts than people expect.

Two weeks out
Costume fitting, properly, with the child wearing it. This is when you discover the mask is unbearable after four minutes or the shoes do not fit, and you still have time to fix it.
Plan the food, and buy the sweets you are handing out — but store them somewhere inconvenient, because sweets bought two weeks early are sweets eaten two weeks early.
The final week
Decorations up, carving on the 29th or 30th rather than earlier. A pumpkin carved on the 20th is collapsing by Halloween. Confirm the trick-or-treat route and who is walking with whom.
The night
Early dinner before anyone eats sweets. Torch, warm layer under the costume, a bag that will not split. Agree the finish time before you leave the house, not on a dark pavement at half past eight.

- A costume page per child: what it is, what it needs, what is bought, what is still missing.
- A budget line. Halloween is a month of small purchases that nobody adds up. Writing them down is usually startling, and it is the page most planners leave out.
- A party checklist — guests, food, games, prizes, timings.
- A shopping list split by shop, because this is what stops three separate trips.
- A traditions page. What you did, what worked, what to repeat. Written on 1 November, this is the most valuable page in the set, and it is the one you will thank yourself for next year.

The costume decision, and how to stop it unravelling
This is the part of October that causes the most friction, and it is almost always the same failure: the decision is made once, informally, and then revisited.
What works is writing it down in front of the child and treating the written line as the decision. Costume, date agreed, what still needs buying. Children change their minds constantly, which is normal; a written record turns "I never said that" into a two-second conversation rather than an argument three days before the party.
Set one deadline for changes — usually the day you order — and say it out loud when the decision is made. After that date, changes are the child's problem to solve with what is in the house, which is how a great many of the better costumes get invented anyway.
Why undated matters for a seasonal planner
More than for any other planner. A dated Halloween set is worth one October and then becomes waste paper.
An undated one is a template: you write this year's dates in, print only the pages you use, and the same file runs again next year and the year after. Since the structure of October does not change — costume, party, decorations, the night itself — there is nothing a dated version adds except an expiry date.
It also means you can start on the 12th without a week of blank squares reproaching you, which is when most people actually start thinking about Halloween.

A4 for the wall, A5 for a bag. The countdown and shopping list want to be on the fridge; the rest can be A5.
Watch the ink. Dark seasonal designs are expensive to print at full colour. Check for a line-art variant, and run drafts in grayscale.
