The composed layouts are what most buyers use first. The individual elements are what make the bundle worth more than a single design, because you can recombine them for months.
The file specifications that matter
Four things decide whether a PNG will actually work on a product.
Transparent background. Essential. A design on a white square will print that white square onto your shirt. Check the listing says transparent, and check a preview image shows the checkerboard pattern rather than white.
300 DPI. The standard print resolution. A design saved at 72 DPI looks fine on screen and soft or pixelated on fabric.
Size. Around 3600 pixels on the longest edge gives you a 12-inch print at 300 DPI, which covers an adult shirt front. Smaller files limit you to pockets and mugs.
The licence. The most important one, and the one buyers skip. Personal use means you can make things for yourself. Commercial use means you can sell them, usually with limits on quantity and on reselling the files themselves. Always read the licence on the individual listing — terms differ from seller to seller, and no general article can tell you what a specific listing permits.

Eight things to make with them
- T-shirts and sweatshirts. The most common use. A single strong design on a plain shirt.
- Tote bags. Forgiving to print on and popular as a seasonal gift.
- Mugs and tumblers. Small motifs work better here than detailed scenes.
- Sticker sheets. Print onto sticker paper and cut. The small motifs earn their place here.
- Cards and invitations. Drop a design into a layout and print on cardstock.
- Party decorations. Print large, cut out, hang. Cheaper than buying decorations.
- Digital use. Social posts, printables you design yourself, party signage.

Which printing method suits which project
Sublimation bonds ink into the material. It gives the softest result and lasts longest, but it only works on polyester or specially coated blanks — not on plain cotton, and not on dark fabrics.
Direct-to-film, or DTF, prints onto a film that transfers with heat. It handles cotton and dark garments, which is why it has become the default for small shirt sellers.
Heat transfer paper is the home option: cheap, no specialist printer, but the result is stiffer and wears less well.
Print-then-cut on a cutting machine handles stickers and paper projects. Cutting software reads the transparent edge of a PNG to find the cut line, which is another reason the transparent background matters.

How long a Halloween design actually sells
This is the part that surprises people who come from evergreen products. Halloween-specific artwork — ghosts, bats, spooky lettering — has a genuinely short window.
Interest builds through late September, peaks in the first three weeks of October, and collapses almost overnight on the first of November. That is roughly six selling weeks for artwork you may have spent a weekend preparing.
Two consequences. First, prepare in summer: by the time the season is visibly under way, the best positions are taken. Second, favour bundles that include non-Halloween autumn elements — plain pumpkins, leaves, seasonal lettering — because those keep working through November while the ghosts go quiet. A set that is entirely Halloween is a six-week asset; one with autumn elements is a three-month one.
Working with the files
You do not need professional software. Canva, Photopea and most free editors open PNGs and let you resize and arrange them. Two rules:
Scale down, never up. Reducing a 300 DPI design keeps it sharp; enlarging it past its native size does not.
And keep the originals. Work on copies, so a flattened or resaved file never overwrites the source you paid for.
It is also worth sorting the bundle into folders by type the day you download it. Forty numbered files are unusable in six months, and ten minutes of renaming now saves an hour of hunting later.
